Have others had difficulty getting parts for the Bravo? I recently lost my mast and sail on a rather wild day on SF Bay. I called my local dealer, who said he did not know when replacement parts would be available. He cannot give me a lead time until I pay for the parts. I spoke with Matt Miller at Hobie, and apparently this is standard policy. I'm really not used to paying for things in advance, nonrefundable "special order" on standard parts, without knowing when (if ever, given that the Bravo will be discontinued next year) I will get them. I did find stock elsewhere in the country, but apparently other dealers are not allowed to sell to me. At any rate, the shipping for the long mast from a distant dealer would be several hundred dollars. AARGH! |

That is not our policy. We would tell a dealer they need to place an order and then we can chase availability. The upper is in stock. The lower appears to be out of stock. Parts are due since February, so we can push if an order is placed. |

Perhaps my confusion comes from what I have been told is necessary for me to have the dealer "place an order". If the dealer places an order with Hobie and the lead time turns out to be unacceptably long for the customer, does the dealer have the option to cancel it without penalty? If not, I can understand why I am being told to pay now and then find out what the delivery time is. |

I'm in a similar boat (pun intended). I've tried to buy a part for my Hobie Bravo from a couple of dealers, and it may not be manufactured anymore. It's a busted handle. The part is "Hobie Bravo Lift Handle ('08)" and its part number is 71190021. At this point, I'm thinking of getting a couple of wooden plugs, some caulk, and some rope and just making it work. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open. |
