I'm currently restoring a '95 SC for adventures in the northern Great Lakes. These boats are hard to find and weren't produced in large numbers as we all know but their popularity seems steady if not growing with people today for the type of vacationing The SC was built for! I've seen the other posts about the tent and I'd like to put it out there again that there is a market for this item and if Hobie can't help maybe this forum can:) Any dimensions to help with construction of a home-made tent or ANY PHOTOS of the OEM tent details would be great. Hobie's Matt Miller, the designer, maybe has the plans filed somewhere (or the the tent's builder does)? He is super helpful all over his forum. Hobie, more than any manufacturer I've seen, has so many details available on all of there boats past and present that I hold a little hope the SC's cool features' details exists somewhere. I realize the tent is not a big deal issue/item but it does seem I'm not the only one interested... Thanks to everyone Tim '77 Montgomery 17 Flush Deck '95 H21SC Previously Hobie 33, Hobie 18 |

Hobie Cat was the builder of the tent, but we don't have the plans any longer. My design was fairly simple. The back stay holds the boom up parallel to the trampoline. The roof line is a straight line from the boom to the inboard edges of the wing seats. The sidewalls drop straight down at the edge of the hull (Velcro attached walls to the hull lip). The roof line extended another foot or so towards the wing. About 4 bungees were used to hook the roof line to the wings lacings. The rear door wall is over the rear beam. There was a neoprene collar around the mast and Velcro. The tent hooked to the forward edge of the Cat Cabin with more Velcro. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That's perfect, mr miller! Easily enough done with that info and photos. Thanks so much. The boat's my winter project. Pretty long winter here and the ski hill is not big enough to keep me busy all season. I'll have more for you and the group as it goes. Hope you had a great Labor Day |

Hi Tim . I have a 21SC also that I bought new in 1994 and still sail. I bought the tent also at that time but unfortunately here in Minnesota we have bugs and have never used it and would be willing to sell it. It was around 500 new in 94. Make me an offer. We love our Hobie #178 AL |

I would recommend going with the hobie tent if you can find one. There are a lot of little details that make the tent very nice. Instead of working on a tent this winter you can find a way to attach a grill to the wing seats of your boat. BTW I have had a lot of fun camping on this boat this year. The waters north of Drummond Island (where this shot was taken) are very nice. I have also had good luck staying in harbors with boat slips 14ft or wider. ![]() |

Before I make my own, does anyone have a tent that they would like to sell? |

Diggin this up from the grave in case there is interest in measurements and detail pictures. There was a new 21SC tent on Ebay and I grabbed it. I am not sure if the tent came in variations. In the ebay picture it just looks like a sheet of light nylon whereas the older pictures out there make it look as if its heavier canvas. ![]() ![]() |

That is the original and there were no other versions. Always made of the lighter material. |
