Me again guys. How interchangable - "if at all" are the two comptips of these two boat masts. I believe you cannot buy a 21SC tip anymore, but I have a part number and list price for a 21SE. They are two different part numbers altogether "SE" 30581051 and "SC" 36581051. This is the only part that stops a whole boat from sailing and I am loathed to try and make a repair on it. The owner is so beyond keen to get this thing moving again but without either a new mast (earl or otherwise) or replacement comptip I am a bit stuck. Cheers Ecosstet4 |

Not interchangeable. Will fit in the extrusion, but the heads are different, different halyard systems. |

Thanks Matt, but if I changed the halyrd system over could this work? Current route I am heading is to buy a new mast perhaps a Pearl or 18, but I really need to know what adjustments this may require interms of rigging lengths etc. The Hobie dealer in country is a lovely guy but he is new to sailing so doesnt really know. Not his fault but we are here to help. Any info would be great. Ecosset4 |

If you could find another extrusion of the same shape/diameter, you could sleeve and extend. It'd be all aluminum and probably bend a little differently, but it would be less expensive than a new mast. I'd put the sleeve at the bottom, personally even though that means moving the spreaders and other stuff. I extended a mast that way on my Corsair when I repowered it with a taller mast and different section shape. I guess my point is don't be afraid to think outside the box. Almost anything can be made to work. |

Thanks guys. I brought the rest of the mast down yesterday and it is in a sorry state. I am going to order a whole new mast. People are suggesting H18 but this might be hard to find so I was thinking of a Hobies Pearl (2 piece easier for shipping. New sail and boom also. This is a 9m mast and I believe the 21sc was 8.8m (sorry to be all European!). I have removed the rigging to measure it up. Do we think this will work - owner is so keen and loved the idea of this and to see the boat back up and running! The jib is in great condition so was planning on just making that work! Want to place order this week so any info would be great. Ecosset4 |

How are you going to buy a Hobie Pearl Mast? The reason I'm asking is I just purchased a H21SC and there is crack in the mast like at some point it may have been dropped. The comp tip feels really strong still, but it could snap. I may need to do something similar. The boat is practically brand new, It looks like it has only ever been sailed a few times and it has been in a barn for the past 19 years. |

Matt Is the H21 SE comp tip still available? I looked in your parts finder and it doesn't come up. |

It is discontinued. The tooling is not usable. |
