How big of an outboard can I put on my 21sc?.

I would recommend the lightest, smallest outboard you can find.

I have a 2hp, 2 stroke outboard. It works well at half throttle. At full throttle the prop pitch is too steep and it just cavitates.

Boat speeds at half throttle are ~6mph. Not bad considering many monohulls with inboards top out at 7-8mph.

My biggest complaint is the motor is too heavy. It is slightly difficult to install, raise and lower. If someone made a 1hp motor with a shallower pitch, and sold it to me for $100, I would buy it.

Isn't the motor bracket rated up to 29 lbs. :?

My motor weighs less than ~25lbs. I am just weak and lazy. Plus it can be awkward to raise and lower the motor mount while in the water if the motor is too heavy.

Probably get the honda 2.5 shot shaft then. Going to long beach in November and I want to make sure the motor can push it nicely with a full crew.

The Honda 2.3 hp will have no problem pushing a fully loaded TI at less than half throttle and will use about 1 liter every two and half hours.

Define "full crew"
I usually sail with 4 people on the boat, and have never felt under powered with 2hp.

I have sailed it on a calmer day with 10 people. The outboard had no issues pushing us up the canal between Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix.

I would like to replace it with a Hobie Tiger Mast, but I can't seem to get my hands on one. If nothing turns up, I will build a carbon fiber sleeve and splint the mast back together. The old comp tip had no visible damage and was not loose prior to it's failure. As such, I can't justify spending a bunch of money getting a new comp tip that could also fail without warning.
