I've been having trouble with the very top of the bolt rope fabric splitting/tearing just adjacent to and a few inches below the head panel. The bolt rope doesn't pull free from the luff track, as some folks have had trouble with. It's kind of a new problem and unfortunately two things happened about the same time - I got a new main and the boat blew over in a storm and broke the comptip so I had to replace it. Any suggestions? I've had the sail repaired twice and installed a new bolt rope at the start of this season and it's torn again. BTW I'd post a picture but evidently don't have picture posting permission? |

It's snagging on something on the way up, or down. Years ago, when all the boats had sail feeders, the biggest trouble was "meathooks" on phillips head screws holding the sail feeder onto the mast, where whatever screwdriver that was used deformed the slot in the screw. I used to always check those when assembling a boat, and changed more than a few of the screws. |
