I intend to order a new mainsail for the 21se I own. I would like to confirm the sail dimensions as my measurements are likely off due to the stretch in the old sail. . This is the original style sail, not a flat top. Would appreciate some direction. Thank you |

I would assume that information is lost to antiquity, but the 30' 3" luff and 105" foot were open class limits after about 1992. Though the class was dissolved 30+ years ago, the rules are still in the HCANA rule book: ![]() Having said that, I think the last 21 nationals were in 1993 so there is no point in trying to build a class legal sail. Get one that makes you happy! Robbie Daniels (who is the head coach of Red Gear Racing) won that last 21 nationals, so technically I suppose he is still the reigning H21 national champion! |

Thank you for the image. Most helpful. I tried searching for the HCANA information and had no luck. Would you by chance be able to post a link... You make a good point regarding adjusting the size since there is no racing. When I bought this boat it came with a flattop - beautiful sail - but regularly jams both going up and down. Initially was pulling out of the compTip. The older original sail - no problem - hence the reason I was thinking I would order a new sail that matched the original. With the square top I added the aluminum mast track to the top of the comptip. Our local sailmaker replaced the top few inches of bolt with an aluminum pipe. Doesn't pull out now but remains a devil to hoist a release. |

I can't seem to attach a link to it here (I tried but it was "censored", so feel free to email me at the address in my profile and I'll get it to you. |
