The paint from the main shafts of my i14t drives is coming off (unfortunately don't know how to attach a photo here in the forum...) I've used the drives maybe 5 times in salt water and 15 times in freshwater. I always rinsed them in fresh water after paddling, but the paint nevertheless came off. What should I do? Leave it as it is or repaint them? What kind of paint should I use? Also the lower cap of my pump came off, the glue doesn't seem to stick anymore. How can I repair that? Just use two screws through the cap into the pump to keep the cap fixed or do I have to glue it in place again? What kind of glue do I need? |

If the boat is under two years old... see a dealer. The drive (cranks) are not painted. These are anodized. We have seen a few issues with incorrectly sealed cranks where the black anodize rubs off. The pump could be glued with any type of epoxy. |

TX Matt for your quick reply! Unfortunately the boat is older than 2 years and so seeing a dealer won't help. But because of lack of time we only have used it like I said maybe 20 times.... What can I do with the cranks? I try to upload a photo.. (have to use the gallery of another forum, sorry for the size) and that's one of the good looking cranks....

Ask your dealer to file anyway. Warranty may decide to help. |

Eventually my hobie dealer has gotten a response from the european distributor - they wan't to see and inspect at least one of the defective cranks (their first reply was 'must be because of the salt water'....). As I don't want to send them the hole drive (and propably never see it back for months), I tried to dismantle the crank completely but don't know how to remove the pedal from the crank. It's a V2 drive and I only see the axle from the pedal going through the crank and crosswise to that a small metall pin, which seems to fix the axle in the crank. I don't know how to remove the pin, it's just flat at both ends - do I have to use a drift and a hammer to get it out of the axle? |

The pedal stays with the crank. Don't try to remove it. |

TX Matt! So I'll leave it as it is and give it to the dealer, who gives it to the distributor, who then hopefully agrees that this is a manufacturer fault and then hopefully exchanges all my four cranks...... and hopefully that all this is done til next spring, can't wait to use the Mirage again! Time is running

Our warranty guys would only need the photo, so they are just trying to cover their .... before agreeing. We know what the problem is and it is not salt water. |
