Post subject:  Alternative Cart

So tried lugging my i11s through sand on the i-cart and it was a no-go, had maybe 30 lbs of gear on board (cooler + rods) and had to give up a 50 yard dash across open beach. Ended up launching in an adjacent creek, but this cart will severely limit my launch options in the future.

I understand that the existing cart won't even take the beach wheels, and Hobie doesn't offer any alternatives.

Has anyone tried some of the aftermarket strap-on carts? C-tug/Wheeleez etc? Or perhaps modified their Hobie cart to make it more sand-friendly?

I am happy so far with this cart for my i11s: TMS CART-CANOE/KAYAK-KY001 ($44 from Amazon), has worked fine over sand for me.

topping this thread to ask a v specific question:
has anyone with the hard tread wheels on the i-series cart found any more suitable sand wheels you can pop on there?

from what i understand the trax wheels have a wider hub, and you can't just swap them on.

i don't really want to buy a second cart just for the puffy wheels. anyone have any luck finding retrofit wheels?
