How do you guys secure the mirage drive for rough landings? Usually my launch/land spot is calm, so I just lay the Drive on the front deck, but had some close calls with the Drive almost going overboard while I paddle in. This is the only time I don't like the flat deck layout of the i11s. |

I would recommend leashing the drive to one of the d-rings in addition to securing the drive under the bungee system during landing. Hobie Rod leash will do the job (part number 74052011). |

You should just use the bungee with hook to hold one crank arm back - this keeps the fins flat up against the bottom of the hull - and beach with it still locked in place. If you must remove the drive - always use a leash - we have a mirage drive leash kit that you can likely adapt to work with your inflatable as well. ![]() 74052101 LEASH KIT - MIRAGEDRIVE US$ 22.99 |

I clip one arm to the bungee when I'm landing at a ramp/dock, but would rather avoid sand getting into the Drive if I'm landing at a beach. Stuffing it under that same bungee is a bit awkward if I have to hop out in a hurry, I'll probably step on the drive. I ordered a Hobie I series D ring kit, will figure out best position to add another bungee towards the front or side of the drive well, and use that to secure the Drive once I pull it for landing. Thanks! |
