Will the i11s stay afloat with a deflated chamber? I would like to buy one for fishing while traveling but worry about hooking the kayak. |

I have never had any of the chambers on mine lose pressure, so I can't address that part of your question except that I venture out feeling very confident that I would do fine if one chamber started loosing pressure. I need to test that theory out on my next immersion/re-entry practice outing. But I have caught a few fish from my i11s and have never come close to getting a hook caught in the boat and I often leave lures with large sharp treble hooks laying on the deck...the surface is hard and smooth enough that I think it would take some real effort to punch a hook through and create a serious leak. cheers, roger |

Burying a hook in an air chamber is going to be very difficult to do, the surface is tough. Now underwater hazards are something else. I scrapped into something just under the river surface hard enough to stop my forward movement with the current. Looked like a piece of broken concrete. The chamber didn't lose air but it put a 4 inch gash in the fabric just deep enough to see threads. I repaired it per the on-line instructions with a patch of Aqua seal. So far it holds air just fine. |
