Converting the AI to 2 seats

Post subject:  Converting the AI to 2 seats
Don't know whether this has been covered before, but a quick and easy way to convert the AI to a workable 2 seater is to simply fit an Ocean Kayak comfort plus, strap in seat into the rear stowage area facing backwards. I fixed it in using the crossbar to locate the straps on the back of the seat and clipped the side straps into the standard tie down rings fitted in the rear. Took a friend out this afternoon when the wind had dropped off to look at the seal colony, it worked a treat and I think although it sits lower in the water at the rear, it travels better in a straight line and with the bow raised a little, deals with waves better. My friend sat in the back with her feet flat on the rear deck and with her head not far behind mine, didn't really have any problems with the main sheet, as long as I warned her before tacking.

Way to go rok... never thought of that! Facing backwards isnt the greatest- but you are right about the position aiding in overall performance /balance etc. I`d take that over riding on the tramps for sure. :idea:

Nissan Motors has a ritual. If an engineer comes up with a new idea that is used-they soak him down with water and he has to work the whole day wet! Consider yourself soaked dude :lol:

That's where my daughters sit when they come out with me.

If I take them both the 9 y/o goes in the back and the 5y/o can sit in front of me - then I make her do the pedalling :)

You gotta get the trampolines then. Now I can take my 11, 5 and 4 year olds no problem.

I`ve fit a seat backwards but never thought about it until roks post -luckily my girlfriend weighs 110!
