has anyone tried filling their metal parts ( crossbars, paddle etc) with foam, like some kind of filler foam. While out on my girlfriend's dad's AI we were T-boned by a Laser which snapped one of the screws and so one of the crossbar went ssank faster than we could realise what happened. I can't imagine foam would add much weight but would certainly be awesome to know that if anything breaks it will float. |

Hi CD, KayakingBob/reconlon has some excellent pimping ideas at his site https://sites.google.com/site/kayakingbob/Home/hobie-adventure-island Take a look at the "Remove extra Shear Bolts and add Aka Cross-brace Leashes" link. Rather than fill the crossbar with foam remove the spare shear bolt and use the hole to leash the crossbar to the aka. Cheers Grant |
