With heart in hand I am contemplating adding some hardware to the deck of my AI. What is the best length for the shaft of the bolt assuming that the head of the bolt will flush up with the deck? Should washers be used both internally and externally? Should the bolt be treated with goop to assure watertight sealing? Thanks! |

The length of bolt needed may vary a little due to skin thickness differences in different areas of the hull. How large a fastener and washer or backing plate will depend on the loads you intend to support. What are you mounting and where on the hull? |

Thanks Matt. To start with I need to mount pad eyes just astern of the forward aka/mast step on both sides of the boat. |
