Just picked up my very first adventure island and am beginning the rigging process and need some advice on how to mount the fish finder, primarily the transducer. Y'all have any recommendations?

I am a believer of Duct Seal. Been using it for two years now and never had a problem.

Interesting. I have read that with DSI ducers that you want to shy away from thru hull install. I saw a thread from the past on here concerning a mount that threads into the rear drain plug area and provides a 1" ram connection to mount externally. I am definitely interested in that route but am not sure where to get the part.

I use a "basic" fish finder, not DSI. If memory serves correct, someone in AUS developed that mount. I do not believe it is mass produced. I am sure someone will chime in as it is a great accessory!

I know that RAM has a transducer mount as well as one for the Structure Scan. I also know that Railblazer are in the process on getting a transducer mount as well that flips up for storage & connects via there Star mounting system. This looks to be a great way of mounting Transducers & also allow to change its position on different Railblazer mounts The Railblazer is also going to be able to be extended so you can adjust it to suit our needs. I know this after contacting Railblaza as Im just installing a HDS9 Gen2 Touch with Structure Scan & they were very helpful to accommodate to anything we need. They also have Mounts for my Lowrance & its looks tough ass. Not going to break that. Good bunch of guys Cheers Ozy Mark

Whoever told you that DSI transducers don't work thru-hull doesn't know what they are talking about. I Side scan ones do need to be out in the open though. So you CAN fit the transducer inside the hull, either set in a bed of silicone (a "dry mount"), or else in a "dam" full of water ( a "wet mount"), Just make sure there are no air bubbles below the transducer. The normal site for the transducer is just in front of the mast V brace, so turbulance from the Miragedrive will have no effect.

I have mounted my 4 DSI and HDI transducer in the hull using Marine GOOP - both are working well.
