| Post subject: | Mast substitute for an Adventure Island sail? |
Hi Everyone! I have an Adventure Island that I like very well. Recently I was given a used AI sail and would like to adapt it to use as a sail for another boat. Unfortunately, I only have one AI mast and that needs to stay on Adventure Island craft. I am unable to find any used AI masts so am looking around for any other mast that substitute. Would a standard 520 cm (about 17', 2 1/8" OD) windsurfer mast ) work reasonably well, and if so, what stiffness should I be looking at? I suspect that I could hand wind the sail onto the mast for reefing, though it would be slow. Any other suggestions for other makes of masts that could work for me? Thank you for any replies. |
