Post subject:  Rear Aka pulling out-SOLVED

For the last few months my rear akas will pull out while sailing
I noticed that my crossbar had actually shifted to one side by a 1/2 inch. Fixed that and tightened the bolts. Still the problem returned. Both rear aka were coming out at different times. Then I realized that this all occured about the time I changed out my safety lines and made them good and tight this time. Well, good and tight is not good. I relaxed them so that they were not pulling the amas forward and now the rear akas stay nicely in place. Anyone else with this problem, check you safety lines.

Good find! Makes sense, since the tight safety line is pulling the rear aka forward, which is pivoting around the aka brace and pulling the aka out of its mount. I haven't had this issue, yet, but I think I'll slack my safety line a bit.
