Post subject: | Rear Aka pulling out-SOLVED |
For the last few months my rear akas will pull out while sailing I noticed that my crossbar had actually shifted to one side by a 1/2 inch. Fixed that and tightened the bolts. Still the problem returned. Both rear aka were coming out at different times. Then I realized that this all occured about the time I changed out my safety lines and made them good and tight this time. Well, good and tight is not good. I relaxed them so that they were not pulling the amas forward and now the rear akas stay nicely in place. Anyone else with this problem, check you safety lines. |

Good find! Makes sense, since the tight safety line is pulling the rear aka forward, which is pivoting around the aka brace and pulling the aka out of its mount. I haven't had this issue, yet, but I think I'll slack my safety line a bit. |
