Post subject: | Brace pin retention the easy way |
The first time I needed to replace a brace pin on my TI, I had to enlist the help of bystanders as my cold and wet pudgy fingers couldn't easily manage the SS split ring holding the spare on. So I filed out the hole on my brace pins, big enough to fit a plastic zip tie. (Note: As the elongation is verttical on the pin, no significant strength is lost from the pin) Now, when I need to replace a pin, I simply cut the zip tie just behind the head, swap the pin into the brace/aka joint, and slide the now slightly shorter zip tie into the pin in its new position. The photos will help. ![]() ![]() |
