Post subject:  Up/Down Rudder Control Lines

Had a bad spill two weeks ago. My TI slammed into a jetty. The Rudder up/down control lines were broken. Very hard to get details and images of how that system works. Hobie publishes a sketch diagram, which is of no help. In my case, the black Spectra line and Shock cord lines parted from the thin, sand colored up and down line. Those two lines, the black Spectra and the shock cord are joined to the rudder line.

In trying to restore the function, I have questions.

[1] The shock cord. A Hobie explanation shows that it is in fact attached to the hull. Where and how?
[2] The turning blocks and the block. Are they permanently attached to the hull? How and where?
[3] The block, to which the black spectra line is attached. Is it attached to the hull, or does is "float freely".

As other commentators have notice, rigging steering places a real burden upon the Owner. Guidance is opaque on the rudder controls. There is a good video from Hobie on how to tune the left and right controls. It's excellent. We need the same for the up/down control lines.

How many hours am I expected to devote to this topic, anyway?
