So I was looking into buying hobie TI , found used one but it is 2011 with no trailer for 4000$, is this too much? is buying kayak like this too risky? it most likely was used on ocean as the guy live by the bay,
Would be thankfull for any opinions,

couple questions I would be asking myself if I had your question:

1) new is 8K and sure to be several K in add-ons early on. So what does the 4K get you in addition to the boat? So ask yourself honestly if 10K is out of your budget. There are quite a few expensive items that come with a new boat that if you had to replace, if you can replace, would add up on the used boat. The seats are nice but costly. Mast is costly.
2) how damaged is the hull and boat, estimated cost to bring back if it is needed?
3) does the 4K come with a trailer?

After I answered those questions and inspected the boat you may be better prepared for your answer.

There is also a simpler approach, how bad do you want to be on the water this year and does the boat float? hehe Kidding aside it is a tough call and they are hard to find right now. Let us know how it goes.
