What would be considered an appropriate wait for warranty items to be shipped from hobie? Does anyone know if a product like JB weld would work on my cracked crossbar? Summer here in NH is slipping away quick, Im dying to get out on the water. I havent had much luck on warranty items and upgrade parts. |

I went with an epoxy/weld metal repair putty. Hopefully it works.....the AI is just way to much fun to have sitting around during time off from work. I got rid of my pontoon because I hated having a broken down boat sitting around....lol. The previous post wasnt to make Hobie look bad in any way whatsoever. Just curious about timeframe so I may have realistic expectations. before:

We've had warranty parts show up in under a week, or take over a month. Just depends on the part. Ask your dealer to follow-up. If he's forgotten or not, that may light a fire. |

There should be no delay on that part. I would have expected same-day-as-claimed shipping. Check status with your dealer. We shipped one one about August 15th to ROUTE 96 POWER & PADDLE Is that yours? No other orders are pending. |

No Matt, not my part. I keep getting the words "run around from hobie" from my dealer. Not really sure where the problem lies. I'm into the 4th week of waiting. Any suggestions or other alternatives would be greatly appreciated. I've pressed my dealer and they said they keep calling hobie. Its the same situation for upgrades; for example, I was told they couldn't get the up down rudder upgrade from hobie, it just isn't available. ?? Frustrating, but I still love my boat! |

Thanks Matt. Is there another way to send you that info? My dealer has always provided myself and others with great customer service and I dont want this to have a negative impact on them. Like I said before, Im not sure where the communication gap is, you (hobie) have always provided top notch service to those in this forum. I can also be reached at: [email protected]. New crossbar is mounted and the up/down rudder assembly installed. Thanks Matt for your help!! Now I can safely get out and enjoy the rest of the sailing season. yeehaaw!! |

Glad to see you are back on the water. From looking at that break it is the operator who welded it who is at fault, not the material. If it had been the material not being up to the job the crack would have been to one side of the weld, it looks like there could have been lack of root fusion which would have caused the crack to start. You could have taken it to a welding workshop or maybe a motorcycle workshop and they would have taken 10mins to grind out the old weld and re-weld it. Just thought I would point that out in case it happens to someone else and they are desperate to get back on the water. |
