Has anyone changed the main sheet to clew attachment method to something less pain inducing? Something like a knot? |

No, but I once replaced the rope on the clew with a ball bungee, but removed the ball after luffing for the first time while partially reefed... ouch! ![]() (I felt like one of the three stooges) Kayaking Bob P.S. I still use the bungee, but with no ball. |

Actually, I added to it. The S hook came off one day while the sail was luffing. Being disabled, I had to flag down a friend for help. So, I crimped the S hook onto a large stainless carabiner that is clipped to the clew. I haven't been hit by it. Maybe it's heavier and doesn't flap around as much? Or, maybe I've just been lucky. |

How about a Harkin 226 dbl micro block tied on. Won't flail off when the sail luffs in a stiff breeze and has less mass to konk your noggin;) ![]() |

Actually I was thinking about one of these: http://www.harkenstore.com/uniface.urd/ ... Z56LC7CNTE http://www.harkenstore.com/images/381.jpg using a thin line about 1.5' long between the clew and the block. |

Actually this one weighs .5 oz, and it has everything I need to attach it to the sail, no metal required. http://www.harkenstore.com/uniface.urd/ ... Z56LC47D1A |

apr67, You're right. That small Harkin 351 carbo sngl block, or much smaller Ronstan 663 simply tied at the clew seems to be the best answer. I don't know what I was imagining with the dbl Micro. I had used a couple in another application on my big boat and got my overly creative brain cells mixed ![]() Thanks, Mike |

I have tied several of those little carbo blocks to sails. Two of them are standard equipment on a Precision 185 jib. I would not want to fool with tying that little line every time I rigged my AI. |

I would just pull the sheet through. I know it adds time, but man that darn block hurt. Perhaps its only an issue for newbies. |
