I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to kit out the Transparent Sea group with 5 islands (and service them before departure) which pro surfer Dave Rasta & crew are using to sail 700km south (from Byron to Bondi) following the whales migration path. In this clip I sail out from Broome's Head (Australia) to meet them on the water. This is day 5 into their expedition. 31 days to go. Some of the audio is a bit hard to hear so in case you just catch it, yes, Chris Del Moro was tailed by a 12' tiger shark!

I also manage to catch a nice snapper while I'm waiting for them, and get some nice sailing footage in. Also good footage of how well an AI handles a moderate surf landing to, so watch to the end. AI and potential AI owners will dig it :-)

Apart from the huge distance in one day, the wonder with these guys is how they are consistently landing and launching through breaking surf in all conditions. I know they are surfers by trade, but it just goes to show what the AI is capable of in the right hands.

Stringy and I mentioned that if the timing is right, doing the Terrigal to Maitland Bay trip with them when they come down the coast would be good. Keep it in mind.

I like you hat. Could you tell me what brand it is and how the back flap does in 15+ winds?

Thanks,
Dave
