If you haven't visited Josh's blog you might want to have a little peek for some Tandem AI news.... http://yakabout.com.au/home/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/ |

Thanks for that CGM (and Josh!) ![]() Great pics. I wonder where they were taken (and how long they will last up here All-elements?) ![]() The ama are very long and sleek and it looks like the new knuckles are fitted. Is that an inflatable lumbar pad? Looks like better handles too! (Aledal take note! ![]() The fore deck seems a lot higher than the single AI. Going back to one of Matt's comments I wonder if this is still fibreglass proto-type or actually plastic? Very nice lines. I can't wait! ![]() |

The same thought crossed my mind on first glance. It looks like a Gelcoat shine rather than Poly. It does look to be a deeper profile. I'm guessing the sail area will be increased to get that extra arse up and moving. Does the mast position look further forward ? I bet you've already attacked that trailer with the welder Stringy, adding that extension piece. |

You're spot on there Slaughter! ![]() My new trailer designed with the tandem in mind is ready to go. ![]() I agree. The mast does seem further forward. |

Stringy, I just watched that clip of Josh meet'n those other AI's com'n down the coast. Looks like they have beaten our AI world record of 4 AI's in the one photo. What a trip. This is a journal of that trip I was talk'n to you about the other week. Looks pretty good. http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgu ... N%26um%3D1 |

We'll have to try and meet up with them when they get closer so we can smash that record, Slaughter! M.H. looks fantastic. Are you any closer to finalising your trip? I've just finished watching the sea kayaking dvd "This is the Sea 4" where they island hop to Tassie. Looks do-able, especially in a tandem AI! ![]() |

I've been doing a lot of read'n about the crossing as well. As well as one bloke who kayaked non stop. Don't see the point of that. I reckon check'n out the islands would be one of the main reasons for doing it. Yeh, how do we find out when these blokes would be close to Terrigal. Sounds like a good time to do the Terrigal to Maitland Bay trip ( it was Maitland Bay wasn't it ). |

Hmmm, something's going on. The pics and article regarding the tandem AI seem to have dissapeared from Josh's blog..... |

Oh no, we're all doomed. All those names that have participated in this thread are now being recorded in the 'Hobie Detension Book'. ![]() |

So the pics are gone from Yakass's blog. ![]() For those with an interest in the tandem AI I'd be right clicking and copying the above pics now just in case they disappear on Monday! ![]() Slaughter, I haven't seen an itinerary on the transparent sea blog so I guess we'll just have to follow their progress. Terrigal to Maitland Bay would be good or maybe even Terrigal to Broken Bay with a car shuffle? I can carry 3 AI's on my trailer now. ![]() |

Hobie is such a tease! ![]() Dang, those amas are very long. On the 16 foot Island the amas are only about 8 feet long - 1/2 the length of the hull. Either the new tandem is less than the rumored 18feet 6 inches (Everglades challenge boats) or, most likely, those amas are 18 feet! ![]() I like the 2 sets of handles by each cockpit - helpful for moving it, or hanging on. Looks like new aka connection points "knuckle - joints" The whole boat looks fast just standing still - me wanty I have a trailer set aside ready to modify for this baby, I have a feeling car topping this craft won't be easy. |

A car shuffle could be the go or if we are still one short I could get my wife to drop me off and pick me up again. Trouble is she would most probably amuse herself at Erina shopping centre which may turn out to be an expensive outing. Personally, I reckon Terrigal to M/Bay and back again sounds less hassle. That can be done easily in a day can't it ? ( you have got a habit of having to get the torch out ). |
