Hobie currently offers the Adventure Island in Hibiscus and Papaya colors. You can also buy a kit to make a Dune Adventure into an AI. If you were to choose from all of the offered colors that Hobie kayaks come in... what would you actually want to buy?

I have a Papaya AI, but might consider a new Dune replacement. However I would want to be able to buy a factory built AI, rather than an upgraded Adventure that is built by a retail outlet. I believe my current AI was built by a retail outlet here in the UK and I have found several things that were not right. I would consider being able to buy the whole package as a kit and assemble it myself. |

That is a tough decision. I really like the dune color best. However, for safety reasons (visibility) you can't beat the papaya-yellow especially if you are in kayak mode. |

Those colour discs don't really do the Dune justice - the disc looks like battleship grey. For those who haven't seen one, I hope Photoquests won't mind me posting one of his photos from Pyramid Lake here:

I like lean toward the Blue. I have heard bright colors do not make it more visible. I don't buy into that and still think red or yellow shows up better for safety. Bruce |

I do like the blue. However I like the safety factor of yellow. Plus the chicks dig it (apparently- roll on summer), even if is is slightly slower than red. |

With a dirty great sail sticking up in the air, is hull colour going to make much difference to your visibility? |

I do feel much safer with my big yellow and blue "safety flag" unfurled though... A guy at work here was telling me he nearly ran over a kayaker with his 40ft yacht. Bad weather, driving spray and just didn't see the guy. A fisherman told him after he came alongside. |

I went for the Dune, the colour for safety isn't something that would bother me "overly" if it did there are other things I can purchase to ease my conscience. |

I like my papaya, but dune looks even better. Still would choose papaya again for safety. I want to be able to go out in any season, also in less than ideal conditions. I consider being seen as a first priority then. |
