NEW!! TRAX "2" Kayak Cart ![]() HOBIE TRAX “2” Plug-in Cart #80044101 The Trax “2” Cart has new 24 cm (blow-molded polyurethane) pneumatic tires. These tires have a higher capacity and are very durable! The rim is a smaller diameter which gives a larger sidewall to prevent pinching and valve damage under heavy loads. The pressure range is double that of the original Trax wheels (now 3–4 lbs) which is easier to maintain. (176 lb Cart Capacity) This is the best all around cart for soft sand and uneven terrain. The tires are wide and can be deflated for better performance over soft sand and soil. Welded Stainless steel construction, solid stainless axle. Wheels are easily removable for storage. Also includes cart keeper feature and cart clamps. |

Will be popular for sure Matt. Are the wheels interchangeable with the existing cart and available as a spare part?..Pirate |

Yes, same (as the original Trax) frame... just new tires, so they can swap wheels. |

Same frame as we have been using for a couple of years and the tires are removable, so I believe ... yes, it will fit in some hulls. |

Assuming there is a Tandem Island in the pipeline, will these news wheels work on such a beast and have the required capacity? Hate to buy new wheels only to have to get an upgrade or something else for the AI2 Thanks |

As far as I know... projected weight of the Tandem is under the capacity shown for the new cart. We have not yet built a Tandem, so it is a bit difficult to say exactly. I should know more soon. |

I might have to pick these up, wish I could find some used ones, but I'll probably have to wait awhile for those. ![]() |

It's so good to see Hobie has come out with some tougher wheels. I previously had the grey ballon, pvc Hobie wheels which were cut easily by barnicles on the beach. The way to mend these is to use a soldering iron on the cut and melt it back together. I found after mending them many times, the pvc just gave out. After a month of not being able to go sailing at low tide, because of the lack of wheels and not wanting to cut up the bottom of my AI, I found these replacements on the internet, and they fit in the.....the.....the same Hobie wheel holder my grey ballon wheels fit in. They have worked very well and haven't yet been cut by barnicles. If Hobie had their new wheels out at this time, I sure would have purchased my wheels from them. Below is who I contacted and how much I paid. US dollars. They may have gone up in price since then. I've sadly put the AI away for the winter. Too cold and windy here in the PNW, for me to be out there. I'll be looking forward to reading adventures from all you warm winter sailors. In reply my Hobie dealer stated that this new TRAX2 Cart frame will not fit inside the Hobie AI forward hatch. Maybe the new-design pneumatic wheels will be the answer, even though only a tad larger diameter than the existing ones, sometimes that's all you need. |
