Am anxious to see the new Tandem. Torqeedo makes a motor called the ultralight, mounted on a ball installed at the rear of a kayak. Would this fit on the new tandom or on the Island? Seems to be the best solution as it can be raise out of the water by simply pulling on the cord. |

Hobie sells this same torqueedo motor as the "evolve". You'll find a lot of posts about it on this forum. The Hobie version of the motor does not mount the way that the regular generic torqueedo does -- no ball and socket option for hanging the motor off the stern of the boat. The Hobie motor drops into the well for the mirage drive, or it can be attached to the rudder (but that is not recommended for sailing). It would be nice if the Hobie also had an option for the ball and socket mount so that you could use it with the mirage drive. |

My point exactly. Looking at the video on the Torqeedo site, it seems that the "Ball" mount could be mounted on the rear of the Hobie Kayak. Is there anyone at Hobie who could answer that question? |

Thanks so much for the utube reference. Exactly the answer I was looking for. Ultralight seems to be the answer I want. |
