The Kon-Tiki Expedition Thor Heyerdahl The story of six young men crossing the Pacific on a balsa wood raft (with a sail). Is a true story. Amazing. |

Yep, read the book when I was like 10 years old in 1960 and then bought the balsa wood model and put it together (actually lashed it together) for bath time! |

I read it about 6 mths ago for the first time. It's been in the bookcase for 30 odd years and I've always said 'one day I'll get around to reading that '. Well I finally did and you are right it is amazing. Thank god times have changed, especially when they harpooned a whale shark because they didn't know what it was. They were just scared stiff that kept circling them preparing to come in for the kill (so they thought). |

One of my favorite books from childhood. Probably read it a dozen times. Always loved the pictures in the middle. There is a movie on Netflix. |
