http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Zha8KL-W6M You gotta check this one out! This guy uses the tandem to ferry his surf board out to go surfing, but then surfs the tandem island on some good size waves. Buries the boat and I would guess almost flips. Looks like the boat can really take some abuse! Best part is around 6:15 in the video, you can easily tell the tandem is faster than AIs in single mode! |

Nice Find! Toward the end of the video, it looks like the adventure can handle the waves better than the longer tandem. It is nice to see how both handle the surf. I had been talking to one of my friends in Florida about doing the same thing. Great to see that someone else was a test pilot for proof of concept. The tandem really will be the perfect offshore surf taxi. |

While Kayaks remain the same length and shape waves come in all shapes and sizes. The waves in this Vid are are very civilised low-slope, fat swells with gently tipping tops characteristic of that part of the world., if they had of been steep and powerful I'm sure that experienced surfer would not have attempted to tackle them with a straight hull. Without Sail to push you your rudder is in water that is moving at around the same speed as the boat and becomes fairly ineffective, and almost non-existant in white water as it is filled with air. Be very careful, being caught in the break zone with a turtled , broken Island might be your last outing. |
