OK you inventors. Looks like you blokes from Maui have the jump on the rest of us, but who is going to be the first to rig up their AI like the trimaran attached ? |

I started looking at a kite, but don't fully understand how it would work. I have approached a couple of places that sell them and am still in some confusion as to whether it will work very well. My understanding is that the kite will pull strongly all the time there is a load, but once you get going and the load is reduced, the kite will stop working as well. I also imagine that the AI's dagger board and rudder would be fairly ineffective? I need to do more research and try and get my head round it. |

It looks easy but these Kites are very difficult to control and keep aloft and weaving to and fro in a stable pattern. I tried one just standing on the beach and was amazed at how sensitive the controls are despite being a Paraglider pilot myself. My bet is you would have both hands constantly on the Kite controls so how do you eat, drink, take photos and manage other boat stuff without an awful lot of experience? |

I´ve seen a Clip with a Corsair Tri using a Kite (YouTube), normally these boats are really fast, but with the kite it seems to be very slow |

There's no reason both hands have to be on kite controls on a boat. That's true for kitesurfers, but on a trimaran you could build a lever that is operated by one hand and controls both kite lines, just like the stick in an airplane controls both ailerons. |

If you want to try flying and sailing at the same time then try one of these hydrofoils http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKJMP8EmZjw . Personaly I prefer my coffee not to get spilt and I like the padded seat. |
