Got a call this evening from our local Hobie dealer and he has a yellow TI with our name written all over it! We pick it up tomorrow around noon-time and will take it directly to the Potomac River for its maiden voyage for the rest of the afternoon. Woo-hoo - can't wait!!! |

Thats is exciting. We have about 8 in the country (so I am told). These will be for the dealers to show off and our boat show. My local dealer will have his next week, so have booked a test drive (sail) |

We got back from picking it up, but not sailing it. Due to threatening weather and our late breakaway from the dealer, we decided to head home and take it out tomorrow. Here's pix. Our old Sport and Outback, ready to be traded in today. ![]() Our old yaks - cast away <sniff>... ![]() Three Tandem Island yaks ready for delivery - ours is at the far right with the yellow labels. ![]() Here it is being unpacked and assembled for the first time. I must say it's a BEAST - much bigger and heavier than I was expecting. I know I couldn't manage it without a trailer; with my bad back, getting it up onto our car roof would have been impossible. ![]() Here it is after it was completely assembled, checked for functionality and any missing parts, then disassembled and rigged for road transport. ![]() Right after arriving at home. The empty cradle to the right will be occupied by the Revolution that's to be delivered in a couple weeks. ![]() In our back yard. That's a two car garage behind it; from the street I can see part of the trailer tongue and the rear rudder. ![]() |

Mitch, Congrats on the new TI. I'm interested in your trailer. Is that the Hobie Trailex Double? I ordered a TI three weeks ago and now I need to get a trailer ready. Like you, I be trailering a TI and another smaller Kayak (Adventure). If you are using the Hobie Double, I'm curious how it's working for you and whether the clearance between the two vehicle and boat is a problem when turning with the extra length of the TI. Thanks, Mark |

That's the Hobie Trailex Double/Double. So far it's working great with everything we've put on it. The Double/Double is *just* wide enough for two TI's, but nothing else - not even the optional Tower System. However, a TI and another single hull kayak or an AI is a piece of cake. The extra length of the TI does require extra attention when making tight turns, but that's all. Very stable on the road, no weaving or excessive movement, even at highway speeds. |

On the trailer. I too am getting the Dbl/Dbl trailer. Currently, I have the tower on order also, but sounds like with 2 TIs the Tower would have to be removed. Trying to decide if buying the Tower is worth it? What do you think? Look forward to the review... |

Mitch, What size ball does the Dbl/Dbl trailer use? Is it 2" ? Thanks. |
