This guy put a roll bar on his Adventure Island to keep the sheet and sail out of the way for fishing. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuwBIT0rMdo[/youtube] I imagine sheeting from higher up like that would allow the top of the sail to twist off more when sailing upwind, reducing the pointing ability of the boat, but he sure can catch some Halibut! |

The rollbar adaptation seems kind of strange. It would be very helpful for standing and negotiating the rear of the boat if it were sturdy enough. I love his "Long camera pole", it gives a great perspective. I REALLY like the "Bungee" pull over for his mainsheet and line.... I will be mimicking this soon! I am very keen to know what mount he is using for his fish finder.... I will be changing mine to match his this week if I can figure out which mount to use. Awesome find Tom. |

Rudy is a fishing machine. He's made lots of great REVO videos and just got the AI. He hot-rodded it in record time. Is that a rearview mirror he's wearing or a some cyborg weapons-sighting system? |

This guy should be working on the Hobie R&D team. Seriously! What blew me away was how quickly he fabs things, all homegrown. And the way he reroutes the mainsheet through the new blocks and his "rollbar". The bar looks to be PVC though, an I'm having a hard time imagining how it can handle the forces of a full sail on a run. Or how it effects sail trim in general. I hope he'll tackle a thumpin sound system next. I need a waterproof one to pimp my ride.

I saw his video where he invented roller furling for his Revo. The funny part to me was that he did not seem to know that roller furling and roller reefing are common on sailboats. He seems to only have it connected to the roll bar when fishing, so I'd guess he just doesn't fish if conditions are too harsh. I can't imagine it's good for sail trim, but if you have enough power to go trolling speed, who cares what the sail shape is? |

The rollbar looks awesome and looks like a great assist from hopping on from the rear. I have the Hobie Revo with sail and the line does get in the way - mostly lays on top of my head/hat. I plan to pick up an AI next year and would like to mimic the innovations that Rudy has implemented. Rudy, can you post plans? Yes, Rudy should be on the Hobie staff! |

Poor halibut. They're kind of beautiful. Wonder how long it takes for them to grow three feet long. I would definitely put them out of their misery as quickly as possible. |

We used to club fish, but found that in many cases, you can just wrap a wet towel around their heads and they calm right down when they can't see any more. Similarly, the trick to controlling some fish when spearfishing is to just grab them with a thumb in one eye and a finger in the other. |

A squirt gun filled with cheap rum works pretty good...a squirt or two in the gills and they are out!...and then of course a squirt or two for the Captain!

Well done but it was such a long video I didnt want to sit there and watch the whole thing just to see the Roll Bar. PPL have short attention spans if you want them to watch something keep it short. |
