Like others, I've noticed the strap a few feet from the top of the sail, which would appear to be where a TI jib (if offered) would be attached. BUT... that would mean no furling of the mainsail.

So I revisted the YouTube clip of the WaterTribe Challenge which shows the experimental jib being used, and sure enough, that strap is where the jib's attached:

Think I might have to put pen to paper, and see if a small swivelling masthead fitting can't be designed to attach the jib and sidestays. Now, there's a challenge for all the inventors out there!

Of course, there's still the other issue to deal with - strengthening the bow area to take the load. :?

(Gotta do something to beat those red TIs)

Rather that going to all the trouble of redesigning your yellow TI; when I get my red TI I will just go a little slower for you

But the truth is I would love a jib!

Someone already invented a masthead swivel for the AI. I decided not to bother, and just use a halyard and tack line on my Adventure Island jib setup. The halyard is a bit of extra drag when not in use, but doesn't seem to affect things much. It rolls up inside the sail just fine.

As for the extra loads, my opinion is that the boat has plenty of power in a decent breeze, and more power would probably mean the need for more centerboard and/or more rudder. The jib is just for light air sailing, and loads are low because there is not enough wind. When it picks up, put the jib away. If you wanna fly when it picks up, there are other boats for that...

Excuse my ignorance but what is a Hobie Foil Ama? Is there a thread or pics of the AI’s?

Gawd, that's pretty!

You should check out the youtube videos on that sukka. You will be amazed. The boat carves 180 deg turns at 30+mph.

Seems like only waves can stop it.

Here is my jib where you do not lose the ability to furl. It is working well so far and does not overpower to mast so no stays are needed. It is further down on the mast where I attach in order not to overpower.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks, Roger
