Is it too early to call yet whether or not the TI Aka to cross brace knuckle joint is a better design than the AI Aka to cross brace pin design. I'd be keen to know from those who are fortunate enough to have both. Should it be a feature on the 2011 AI ? I'm sure we would also appreciate your opinion Matt ! |

I think the TI knuckle is a major improvement (as long as they don't pop out underway! ![]() I didn't have a problem with the AI pins (apart from the wear slop) but the TI is so much quicker to assemble. If you transport your AI assembled you won't really notice a benefit. The knuckle design seems robust but as you say it's too early to tell if it will wear better. My guess is it will. I transport the TI un-assembled so I really notice the difference in speedier assembly. It's also much easier to thread the rolled tramps through the aka when removing/assembling. The U-ended aka of the AI made that difficult. PS- Another trip is long overdue wouldn't you agree? ![]() |

I agree. I need a fix. I haven't been out for a month. Deb's still overseas but gets back next Tuesday. I thought that while she was away I'd be out every weekend but with wash'n, iron'n, cook'n, vac'n etc there was no time for sail'n. She'll need to 'put another log on the fire' too. ![]() How bout the Terrigal to Maitland Bay and return ? |

I have both an AI and a TI. Now that my akas stay in the TI like they should I vote for the knuckle. It just seems a lot stronger. I trailer mine assembled so I don't care about assembly time but it seems like it is harder to take apart the knuckle type than the pin. Jerry |

I'm looking forward to seeing and operating the knuckle design in the flesh. I've only seen photos to date. ( Mind you, I was looking forward to seeing Pamela Anderson in the flesh instead of pictures too and that wasn't as enjoyable as I'd have hoped. Although, in fairness, I didn't really get the chance to operate ) |
