Ger, as Bob noted, you can just graft a 4' length of soft line between the sheet and the furling line. More than that will just drag in the water or hang up on something. I just replaced my furling line with extra long one, and it now overflows the reeling spool on the mast, so adding a 3rd rope still seems like a good idea to me. Cheaper too.
Unless the bungees are frayed, you may not need to stimulate the hobie economy at all. It's easy to pull up one end cap and trim a couple inches off the existing cord. Tighten it to taste, double the knot and melt the end.
All you need is the hobie padey wrench or thin needlenose pliers and a lighter.
(Clear the plastic manufacturing trash from the open hole and lube the threads before rescrewing the cap).
Almost good as new. With money left over for new tramps.
