We're heading out to Stanthorpe QLD Aust. in a few weeks. We'll be camping & while it wont be the primary purpose of the trip I was wondering if anyone knew of any good yakkin spots out that way

Storm King Dam is the only place nearby from what I could tell off whereis & google earth but I cant be sure if thats even any good

Im hoping to pick up the TI before we head out so I dont care if I have to take it in a puddle, if Ive got it its comin for the ride!

Any input would be great

All else fails we'll pack up & head for Wivenhoe Dam, Id prefer to get a bit of Dam time in before I hit Morten Bay

Cheers

Hi Bongorust

I worked & lived at Stanthorpe (30 years ago !!) and you're right Storm King is about the only place where you can go. A few years ago I stayed at the Storm King facility and whilst I enjoyed a hot cup of coffee on the banks, it was after a bit of a boozy night and the Stanthorpe mid winter morning didn't exactly produce any sailing/swimming thought bubbles, but from that hazy memory access into the dam is OK. Canoeing is one of the main activities for the Storm king camp.

I'm more impressed with Wivenhoe/Somerset. Enjoy Stanthorpe. I stayed at there last year in a nice B & B out near Ballandean if you're after accommodation.

Hi OG, we're staying at Country Style Accom. They have a few villa's but mostly tent & van sites, we're camping but we have friends staying in a van & villa (softies)

Looking forward to the trip bit over a week away

I just realised it'll be school holidays in the next few weeks & there is no chance Im guna put up with those crowds at Wivenhoe, call me fussy but I hate crowds. So I recon the bay will have to do.....its a tough life sometimes
