Wondering if it is just me but when locking the seat in, the mechanism expands to push the peg out of the hole even when pushing down on it while tightening the screw. I've made sure to unscrew the mechanism all the way 1st before inserting the peg in the hole and then push down (which makes turning the screw that much harder) while turning clockwise only to then have the peg pop itself out of the hole. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey I thought that would be the easy part of sailing a TI :)

To keep the peg from popping out while tightening, ensure that the cavity is dry.

I found that if the hole is wet, the peg has a tendency to slide out due to a loss of friction.

thank you Eddie - that might be it because I do believe the holes were wet when I was trying. Great answer. Will report back after my next outing (probably this weekend).

I got tired of the peg spinning in the hole when I tried to tighten them so I took a round wood rasp and ruffed up both the holes and the pegs. Works great now.

interesting idea. Just to add to the pot I was considering a wedge made of something flexible like caulking...just add a strip of it to the 2 plastic halves surrounding the screw and it should compress when inserting the peg. Haven't tried it yet though pending the posted replies such as your own.

Thank you both for your rapid responses.

So I had a slightly different issue. One of mine span round while the other worked perfectly. There was a noticable difference between them in the force required to turn the ring while holding the plastric "wedge" part. This was straight after delivery and had'nt even been in the water. Since I car top and remove the seat every time I use it for cleaning and moving the AI I decided not to tighten them at all just leave them as a sung fit. Seems to work OK, does anyone see a long term isse with this approach.
Pete.

I don't see an issue other than the seat does slide out beneath you without the lock.
