Post subject:  Convert to a single Kayak and back?

I'm seriously considering purchasing a TI and am wondering how difficult it is to convert it "back and forth" to a single hull kayak?

Is this something that is easily and realistically achieved?

Is it possible to do it without screw drivers and pliers etc?

I think this boat would be amazing for my family if it could function as both, but I'm concerned that you need to unscrew a lot of hardware to get it into single hull kayak mode. Does anyone have any experience wit this? Is it really possible to relatively easily and frequently convert it back and forth? Do you risk damaging the boat in this process?

Thanks!

It couldn't be easier. This clip will give you a bit of an idea. 2 scenes to pay attention to. One at the start, a sequence of freeze frames showing the stages of rigging (AI & TI). Half-way thru clip there is an example of someone (my boss actually) derigging it. As he does so you'll see how easy it is to turn it from trimaran to outrigger, from outrigger to kayak.

Agreed, super easy and no tools needed. The amas are connected to the akas with bungee cords, and the akas are removed from the main hull by squeezing a release on the crossbars. You can do it in 2 minutes with one person.
