I haven't had a chance to camp out of the AI yet. This is a little past prime season for camping on Elliott Key, but it's still feasible. It will still be cool enough to sleep at night. The mosquitoes are a bit of a gamble. Bring bug spray and keep your tent screen closed. The weather and winds sound pretty good. It is predicted to be dry - light winds, possibly helping, Saturday, and a broad reach in 12 to 14 knots Sunday. Might take a few hours to get across Saturday and maybe an hour or so coming back. Here are directions to Biscayne National Park Headquarters. http://www.nps.gov/bisc/planyourvisit/directions.htm The facilities there are excellent and free. There is a canoe launch, but you could back a trailer up close enough to get a TI in the water easily. I plan to arrive around 10:AM Saturday and probably be back by around noon Sunday. Hi Ted, Sorry, I can't make it. It is a bad time (tax season), a bit late in the camping season--warm, and the winds may be on the light side. Have a great time and be sure to tell us about it. Keith |
