First the noob questions: 1. How fast can the TI go? I'm not sure of wind speeds, but without hiking out with just me in the back seat, my GPS read 8 mph tops and that had one ama mostly submarined. Is it normal and/or efficient to submarine them? When will it capsize? Am I sailing wrong? Seems like I used to go faster in a Sunfish. 2. The bottom part of the fins of one of my Miragedrive units is already damaged. The inner rod is exposed and will poke out in one direction. Apperently we abraded it off, our mistake. Are the fins replaceable or do I have to buy a whole new unit? How much $$? Any kind of waterproof tape to reinforce it in the meantime? Finally got the tramps! Congrats on your TI! On speed, the TI with enough wind and minimal waves can easily get up to a top speed of 10-12+mph. Waves will slow it down some and 8mph is not bad for a constant speed. Burying an ama will slow you down. Reefing in the sail, even just a little, should help with that and probably increase your speed some too. Fins are replaceable. Either buy one fin (#81192001 $29US), or buy the upgrade kit (#72066001 $93US) with 2 fins and 2 masts for when you hit something (again!) ![]() Go Pepper! Many happy sails. |
