I was adjusting the tension on my new TI's rudder lines in the rear hatch. While feeling around for a line I thought I may be overlooking. I found 2 plastic hooks in the gunnels on either side of my TI. Are these for moving the rudder lines out of the way while stowing/unstowing gear? Or should my rudder lines be in these hooks while sailing?

Stock systems hang from the hooks. The replacement rudder system does not. Has to do with tube lengths. This has been discussed in the rudder replacement topic... for more detail.

After installing the new rudder system, I also thought about using the 'old' clips to hold the new rudder lines out the way while stowing gear. But I quickly realized that very soon I was going to forget to pop the lines off the clips.
Leaving the new lines running over the clips will, I believe, quickly lead to abrasion of the lines as they pull back and forth against the clips. The old lines were protected from abrasion by the longer plastic tubes used by the old system.
