Recently I bought a brand-new TI. I made the change from a West Wight Potter (wwpotter.com [the 15 footer]). I can't imagine a more radical change in type of boat: Potter=sloop-rigged, displacement hull, lots of freeboard, limited by hull speed to about 5 mph, one of the longest made production sailboats; since 1961, made by a small company). I did a PRO/CON list before making my decision, consulted a number of boating friends, went on demo rides, saw lots of footage on Youtube and asked lots of questions. I bought a Red Hibiscus TI in stock and couldn't be more pleased. What a versatile boat. I have developed a simple trolling motor mount and now I can motor, pedal, paddle and sail or combinations of the above. I have a kayak (2-person no less), a paddle boat, a fishing boat capable of trolling, and a fast sailboat. The boat is light enough, it could be transported on top of my Jeep.

The last vid was a failure in showing the features of this Owen Sound, Ont, Canada built vessel.
Here's a better example of an '86 model video done as an inspection video that shows off the better aspects of this seaworthy craft.

Man, I logged a lot of fresh/salt water and highway miles with this rock solid teeny yacht (notice no sliding hatch, prolly the weak point in most small mono hull deck set ups)
A lot of the Rocky Mountain Lakes in Alberta, Canada, Desolation Sound, BC, and the West Coast from Tofino, Vancouver Island to Nootka sound were bagged after a total refit to allow 1 person to stay afloat after every square inch was thought out and maximized.

Yes I owned the WW Potter-15 longer than any other sailboat I have ever had (9 years). I even capsized it once. Made some great memories with that boat. But as with a number of other things, I was ready for a change. In some respects, I am downsizing (although not in length). But certainly it is a downsize in weight and in the weight and strength of the trailer required and tow vehicle needed. I am particularly impressed that the TI does just about everything I've tried to get it to do and does it well. I tell people I got a half-breed boat for its half-breed owner (my parents were of different cultures, religions and principle languages, etc.). I think the TI had an Alaskan-Native Father (kayak heritage) and a Hawaiian Mother (Akas and Amas).

John,

I knew a guy who lived on a 15 foot WW Potter in Friday Harbor, Washinton. Yes I said lived aboard. He was definitely a minimalist.
