Is there any standard way you guys are mounting your Ram balls? What hardware? I saw in the Hobie catalog some well fasteners that are supposed to seal the hole, but I don't see anyone ever mentioning using them or even know where to get them. Is everyone just using SS nuts bolts and washers? I saw a mention of Goop once, would that be the marine version? Would you use it just in the holes, or would you slather it all over mating surfaces? |

I use SS hardware and Silicon Adhesive to seal all holes. |

Are you always be able to reach the underside to attach bolts and washers, or do you use some kind of screw that seals itself into the hole? |

So far, I've been able to reach. An old trick, if it's out of reach, drill the hole just a little bit larger, and fish some light fishing line into the hole and tie it to near the end of the bolt. Be sure to have the washer (oversized?) with a bit of Silicon Adhesive on it and pull the bolt from the inside to out (backward!). A wrench or long pliers can usually hold the bolt inside as you tighten. |
