last week we went up to my in-laws on Lake Champlain and I took my AI with me for some fun. Hurricane Irene cut our trip short and we made the 400 mile dash back down south to button down the hatches ... Unfortunately I had to leave the AI up there as I ended up with 3 passengers and 2 dogs so there was no room for all the gear. I could have put the AI back on the roof but 1) I had NO room for all the other rigging and 2) I didn't like the idea of possibly driving into a hurricane with it up top So being off for the past 4 days, of course they have probably been the best consecutive sailing days all summer !! and I wont have a chance to get back up there to retrieve my boat until the end of sept !! My inlaws were away this weekend and my wife was working ... I should have made a Bonzai run up there alone anyway just to retrieve my Papaya Mistress Im bummed ... I MISS my AI ... I NEED MY AI !!! ![]() |

It's time to make a little midnight run up. Sacrifice one night of sleep to gain a month of sailing! Trust me, it's worth it! ![]() |

I'm flying to Boston on the 26th and will be spending a week in Vermont. I'd be Happy to exercise her for you as I'll be missing my TI back home in WA ![]() I'll be kayaking the lake with an old friend who's been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's. Anyone in the Burlington area? |

Hey ihop Sorry to hear about your friend's condition. My step dad is in a care home, as is my Mother in Law, in the later stages of the same horrible state of mind. My Uncle-in-Law (a highly respected medical research scientist) told me years ago: "No matter how odd or how strange their behavior is, they are not responsible for what they do or say"... He also mentioned that extreme patience is needed on my part to give them the support when it is needed the most. No truer words have ever been spoken, sadly... Good Luck, my friend Fred |

T-mite, Thanks for the kind words, both my wife's parents had dementia and it was tough to see. Fortunately my friend is in very early stages and just has some short term memory loss. I'm putting together some slides from our many adventures from the late 60's to late 70's. Hope we get to do some yak'in in a few Vermonts lakes and streams. iHop |

I would certainly offer you and your friend my AI for a nice lake cruise as my in-laws are directly across from Burlington (Port Kent ... there's even a ferry that goes right there) but unfortunatley they're away on vacation and the AI is locked up in their garage. It now looks like I'll be up there the weekend before your arrival (23-25) to retrieve it. If things get pushed off a week to Oct 1-2 I'll let you know ... I did make the NY -> VT crossing earlier this year viewtopic.php?f=70&t=36551 |
