assembling TI,.... what are these in the accessory bag ?

Post subject:  assembling TI,.... what are these in the accessory bag ?
I have three things in a separate plastic bag and wonder what they are for...

1. T shaped plastic handles

2. A triangular shaped rubber- like flat object

3. Screw with nylon nut.

First Hobie, first sail boat at 55 yrs old....I apologize for my lack of knowlege, but old newbies must learn somehow.

Not sure about the first two with out a picture, but the plastic bolt and nut are extra parts for the akas. They are sacrificial and will break away if you hit something with an ama.

The T shaped plastic handles go on the pladdles to make short ones.
The triangular rubber are splash guards and you have to instal them in the pedal base.

heh, my dealer removes all the rubber splash guards for the mirage drives in the package even before they hand it to you. Then, if you really really must have it, they will make you sign a waiver in case you use them because they block the view of installing the mirage drive and apparently they have seen many boats trashed because they were being used...

Shouldn't be that dealer's place to decide whether you get something Hobie chose to supplies with your boat!

I agree.

I picked up a brand spankin new TI yesterday, and the packet had a small slice and the 2 rubber things were out. I didnt see any breakaway screw unless they already mounted it on the aka which i did not look for. (on my AI it had a spot for the spare one, so i assume on the TI it's the same thing)

Let the dealer know, that you know what was suppose to come with your boat and I'm sure they will "find" the missing parts. Sometimes some boats do arrive from Hobie without all the required pieces, but any good dealer will get replacements, and a great dealer will find a way to do it quick.

thats just it, I mentioned it to him when i was handed the packet, thats when i got the spcheal on how they suck, they don't know why hobie uses them, sign the waiver if u want them etc...(now mind you, thats the second time i was told that, the first time was by one of the sales guys, this guy was the owner). I've bought 3 hobies over the past year (1 AI, 1 TI and 1 PA) and none came with it. (sales guy told me he has a huge pile/box/collection of them).

I think their thinking/reasoning is, they have somehow caused people to put in the mirage drives incorrectly and break the hull..so they wont install, give them to ya, and and ya sign the waiver it then releases them from a warranty claim for incorrect installation damage? (note: this is my hunch since i have not actually seen said waiver)
in the end i'm not overly concerned about it, tho it's a matter of principle. ,..just give me the damn things, whether i am gonna use it or not...why do i need a waiver? i'm sure someplace they are included in the prices i paid (and in the catalog for 10-12 bux x2 i think)..again, it's principle.

In all fairness tho, with regards to everything else, these guys have bent over backwards in service and getting things done..dunno why these rubber thingies are such a sore spot for them.

On a 2012 hull with a 2012 Mirage drive, it's almost impossible to install the drive wrong.

I'm waiting to see what Hobie's response is to this.

I wonder if your dealer reads the forums...

I remembered there was a recommendation packed with the splash guards saying that you should learn to put in the drive straight before you fit the splash guards.
Do not worry about age I have passed 70.
