Post subject:  Ti rudder the correct way to tighten lines?

Yesterday I had the rudder on the Ti fail when3 miles away from base. In strong winds there is a lot of force on the rudder and the lines managed to get pulled past the screws on the rudder resulting in the loss of steering.

I managed to get back single handed by turning on the evolve (paid for itself on this occasion), lying across the back of the boat and steering (sort of) by pulling the rudder lines through the rear hatch.

An hour later and having gone around in circles a few times I managed to bet back to a beach to re tighten the rudder lines.

So question. How should these be run around the screws and should there be knots to stop any slippage? And pictures and advice would be welcome please.

Sure CC. Loop the line under itself for compression, then tie it off any way you want to.

And Hobies video, covering installation of the new rudder system.

The first picture (2nd post) is the newest rudder. The second picture from the video (3rd post) shows the old twist-n-stow which is now replaced.

CC that is totally the wrong video. It's the only one with a link through the new TI support page. Sorry bout that.

Here's the right one. I had to dig elsewhere for it.
