My plan is to put the TI in the 6ft bed of my truck. I've seen plenty of 4ft bed extender for $60-$100 online. My local shop sells a 6ft hitch extender. It's $200, do you guys think a 4ft extender would be sufficient in a 6ft bed with the tailgate down, or do I need to spring for the 6ft extender. I'm trying to save a little cash wherever I can. Spending 6k on a plastic boat is giving me heart palpitations. |

Thats how I brought mine home a couple of weeks ago. I covered the top of the extender bars with a pool noodle to cushion it. The extender measured right at 11 feet from the back of the bed and easily made the hour long ride home. I have also used it a couple of times to take my TI to the lake. Since then I have converted my harbor freight trailer to carry it though as it is kind of a pain to carry in truck and put together each trip. I think you should be fine though. PS-I would make sure to put the rudder towards the back of the bed because the stern is heavier. |

domromer ...... i've carried my TI many times in the back of my pick up with the bed extender, never a problem, in fact when i purchased it i brought it home that way.... 200 plus miles. you probably have 11 plus feet supported and i've found that is plenty.... strap the mast on top of hull and the outriggers (pontoons) on each side. good luck & good sailing steve |
