Hi Dan! I've been studying it too. Then new AI is 7" longer and 2" wider. Weight capacity is up 50# to 400#. Mast is 16" higher, but only 7.5sqft more sail because of the higher cut, probably mostly for the new higher seat. It is 27# heavier assembled. I can't tell as much from the pictures. The rear hatch is now in at the rear of the tank-well. The bow widens faster than our current models. The bow looks a little shorter, but hopefully not, making the cockpit area a bit larger. The front hatch looks a little narrower, but again hopefully not. The deck must be thicker like the TI, but I have yet to see it in any pictures. A big plus is the longer ama. Putting the TI ama on my AI made a much smoother ride and in most conditions no slower, so hopefully these new midsize ama will do as well. I hope they start shipping soon, as I need to adjust Sprayskirts for the new design! |
