I know there were a few solutions which I read about last year, I was wondering if there was a consensus on how to keep a pool of water out of my seat in my 2014 TI? The solution I am thinking about involves raising the seat with a plastic mold, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrdT0gzQPww I was wondering if anyone has gone this route or have another idea that is elegant? |

I'm trying not to sit in water all summer, Maybe I'll try the fix in the video and report back my success or failure.... |

I do leave the drain plugs out--take them out when I get the boat, never put them back. The only reason to leave the drain plugs in is if the water is cold. If that is the case, you will also need to raise the seat some and buy a pair of dry pants. Keith |

That video was for the AI not the TI, the seat in the TI is not below the waterline and you really don't need drastic measures to solve the problem. Kieths suggestion of the I comfort seat is very good. I took an old rubber coated foam pool matress and cut it up a couple years ago and it still is working great. I just cut it to the same shape of the seat bottom, slipped it into a laundry bag (actually mine is a lobster catch bag) along with the seat bottom and cinched the bag shut. I spend a lot of time in the boat pretty much every weekend and just the standard seat alone was always hard on my butt, with the 1.5 in thick foam added underneath it actually wuite comfortable for hours at a time. I just leave the scupper drains open and my butt stays very dry with my seat raised about 1.5 inches. Adding tramps and spray skirts makes a huge difference, the only time i get wet any more is when I get hit by the giant wakes from huge powerboats and mega yachts or I'm pushing hard in 2-3ft chop (which is pretty normal around here), then my butt and swim suit stay pretty dry but my face and upper body are drenched. Actually I know it's counter intuitive to turn sideways to those big wakes, but the TI is so stable you don't have to point your bow into the wake (how all of us were taught), I stay a lot dryer hitting them broadside and just rolling over them. Basically anything that raises you up at least an inch or so will fix your problem, also get spray skirts if you don't have them already. I'm extremely happy with my setup and it has withstood the test of time (2yrs now). Hope this helps Bob |

I will try the hobie Comfort seat (whatever the name is). That is the quickest and easiest solution. I wish there was a nice skipper seat that we could drop in with minimal effort. Nothing I've seen is clear or easy on which seat to buy and how it would fit without mods... |
