I reckon a beach shelter like this woul;d serve your purposes. It is "one piece" in that it erects a bit like an umbrella. Can't help you regarding finding a level floor under it though!

I've seen a couple of videos where a popup tent was mounted to a trampoline. I'm thinking that would be useful for on water raft-ups and for relief from the desert sun when the wind dies mid day on our desert lake. An internet search reveals dozens of these sorts of shelters that might work. It seems like the reviews of quality are all over the map. Does any one on the forum have experience with a particular brand or configuration? I'm looking for something that could be deployed or stowed quickly and with little effort. |

Tony, That is the kind of thing I am looking at. Needs to approximate tramp size. There are several of these advertised but the problem is when I read the reviews they seem to be really lacking in quality. Hoping to find someone who had actually used one. |

As mine only cost me $20, I am not overly concerned about quality from ALDI. It looks well enough made to last quite a few uses. |

I have a sportbrella for shore use but you have me thinking it might be possible to rig it with some kind of adapter in a rod holder or scupper hole. Unfortunately the structure is mild steel if I remember correctly. http://www.sport-brella.com In researching beach shelters I found that they are mostly pretty wimpy construction wise, including the sportbrella. Nothing like Stringy's awesome bimini which is something purpose built for watercraft use and designed to catch as little wind as possible. I think it's a case of getting what you pay for, cost vs benefit etc. If you find a great solution please share your results. Chris |
