Picked up my new AI 4 days ago. Have been out twice since then and I am very impressed. I won't go and give a detailed review, as Yakass has done a brilliant job of that. But I must say that the seat is super comfy. The cut in the sail allows you to see much better and no ducking to tack anymore. As far as speed goes, the new AI is noticeably faster in all cases with the exception of running straight down wind. The ride is higher and drier and smoother. So far pushing it downwind I didn't bury the nose, where the older AI right beside me did. What a brilliant BEAST. Did just a couple of easy mods, as shown in the photos. Lined the front hatch with thin closed cell foam to stop things bouncing around. Changed the control lines as I did with my old AI. Then added Kayaking Bob's Spray Skirts. So far I am very impressed. Here is a short youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAvoUDXp6bI ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That foam in the front hatch is a great idea. Did you attach it in some way ? Did you change to wide angle fairleads just for sailing from Hakas ? Thanks Chris |

Attached it with just a few blobs of marine sealant to stop it moving. Did you change to wide angle fairleads just for sailing from Hakas ? Changed to keep the controls close at hand and to keep the furling line away from my feet. It was the only double cleat I could find. Thanks Chris |

Where'd you find the blue closed-cell foam? Goes great with the Dune! |

I like the alteration to the mainsheet jam cleat. What did you use? I'm also wondering what is the material that is between the bigger jam cleat you installed and the original jam cleat and what is its function? |
